Measles Resources for General Practices

Let’s Stop Measles!

You will all be aware of the dramatic increase in measles cases in some areas of New Zealand. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases that can be prevented by timely immunisation.

5- 10% increase in MMR coverage NOW will stop measles circulating in our communities

This can be achieved by ensuring that all families in your care take the opportunity to be immunised. The information on this web page is designed to assist you in planning and implementing a recall/catch-up programme

Recall Tactics

Generic practice letter

Parent measles fact sheet

  • This is the existing IMAC resource that provides parents with answers to many of the common questions regarding measles and the MMR vaccine.

MMR, Autism and IBD sheet

  • This is a new resource providing more detailed information for parents who may be reluctant to immunise due to suspicion of the MMR/Autism ‘link’

A3 colour poster for reception/waiting room use

  • The poster below is provided for use in practice waiting rooms. We would be most interested in feedback on how it is received by practice staff and patients. Please contact Theo Brandt via email to provide feedback or to order a printed copy of the poster. (t.brandt@auckland.ac.nz)

Other resources

Many DHBs and PHOs have already developed their own resources. We will provide links to these as they provided to us. Please feel free to provide web links to existing resources.
